What up Souf Cak? Okay let me address the situation that Venom and I were discussing today. And just in case you missed it we were talking about the way we as a people support Obama for president. The debate was "is it okay to openly focus on the fact that Obama is a black man running for president as well as wearing tee shirts that read "my president is black" in public?"(Shout out to Yung Jeezy) First let me start off by telling you what you already know. There are a number of people that believe that Obama is in this election only because we as a people came out to support the first term senator for president because we don't know or care about what the issues are but that we are supporting him because he is a black man and only because he is a black man. Now I will say that there are a number of people who this sentiment applies to but for the most part I believe that the majority supported Obama because we believe in his message of change. Without a doubt there are a number of black people who normally don't get involved in politics for the simple fact that haven't ever been interested in the people who are running, but that doesn't change the fact that Obama is running one of the best campaigns we have ever seen. My position is we should be proud of the fact that we have as a people (white and black) elected a black man to run for president, but as we all know that too much pride before a contest is decided can be turned against you and can cost you a victory in any arena. What we have to proud of now is something but if it is undermined by our openly flaunting the fact that Obama is black then we substantiate a lie and create another issue on top of the other issues that he has to overcome. We are not supporting him because he is a black man, we are supporting him because we as a country want a change and he is addressing that change in his campaign. There are still some undecided voters out there that can sway any way. With that said ask yourself this: "How does it make me feel when you see a tee shirt with a confederate flag saying white pride or power?" "How does that person wearing the shirt look to you?" I don't know how you feel but for me it brings race into play. So all in all what I'm trying to say that if we see him as a black man who is running for president then people will see him as a black man running for president when what he happens to be is a good man who is trying to bring about change who just so happens to be Black! When race continues to come into play it should serve notice that we as the people of the United States of America (white and black) HAVE NOT OVERCOME! Till next time PEACE to you and yours!
